Country Garden Collection

Tristan Brooks introduces the Country Garden Collection from the Royal School of Needlework in London, England. (Scroll down for larger picture.)

The Royal School is world famous for their expertise in raised (stumpwork) embroidery and goldwork. And now they have produced a beautiful set of stitching accessories that will allow you to learn some of the secrets to perfecting these techniques. These are not your average kits produced with inferior materials. These designs bring kit making to a new level of excellence! I think we can safely call these correspondence courses in a bag.

Inspired by antique pieces in the school’s collection, these designs portray the quintessential English garden at the height of summer. Each piece is stitched on a delicate butter cream shade of heavy sateen using cotton floss and the finest English gilt threads. Even advanced stitchers will appreciate the detailed instructions and diagrams. They read as if a tutor is by your side anticipating your next question. These designs are not for true beginners but will be a joy to anyone who has some experience in needlework. The only thing missing is the 10" hoop they recommend for you to use. (See Stitching Supplies to purchase a hoop.) You will need to be able to use both hands at once so you might want to consider a hoop with a sit-upon stand or table clamp.
